Typical morning, but not what you are thinking

its a typical morning. All my chores are done and I sit to drink my cold coffee. I open fb and scroll through the posts. Typical. I can’t tell you how many times I read this same post. Puppy is 12 weeks old and biting the kids. I see this same post every single day. First let’s address the issue of the kids. Your kids can not run and jump and carry on in front of pup then expect the pup not to react. The pup follows and does what the kids do. As a parent getting a pup is work for you. Expect the amount of time invested to be the same as if you gave birth to this pup. Yes as much as having a new baby in the house. Although maturity happens much faster. You still have to put the time in. Your kids are not the enforcer. They can help. But you have to teach both how to interact. You need the time to teach both. If you have no time please don’t get a pup. Next let’s talk about the pup. Look for a pup that is not mouthy. Biting on things. My biggest advise is a trainer. You send your kids to pre school. Then on to regular school. Your pup needs the same training. If you can’t dedicate the time to train at home then go to a class. The first 6 months is the most important. This sets your foundation. Before pup even comes home, find classes in your area. Price them. Select the option you can afford. Don’t wait till you have an issue. If you need me I’m always here to help. I like to start off with redirect with a toy. I always have a toy in my hand or close by. I redirect with a toy. But at a young age pups get bored. Don’t expect the pup to entertain them selves. You need to play with them. Teach them what is appropriate.
