4/28/2017 Vet apptthe vet appt went very well. I took them outside most of the morning to tire them out. and it worked. Other than a little fussing in the car they did great. The vet checked everyone out and gave them each their shot and microchip. Other than orange not having both testicles drop it was a clean bill of health. They are still very young and it's nothing to worry over yet. I usually have at least one boy that is this way. Everyone was well behaved. When we returned home I let them back out again to run in the yard. Everyone is now resting for the night. It was a big day. I introduced treats today. We worked on sitting. So much will happen in the next couple days. The maturity just amazes me each day. I finished the folders tonight and I will enter all the microchipping info tomorrow. I think everyone is set for go home day. I still did not get individual pictures. Will try again tomorrow.
4/27/2017 Vet apptwe go to the vet tomorrow at 2 for shots and check up and micro chipping. We finally got outside this morning for awhile. Then everyone got a quick bath and they napped this afternoon while I put together go home bags and folders. I was able to add another section and move the puppy fence and they spent all evening outside. I even had my son run the push mower so they could here the sound. They didn't run but just watched from as far as possible away. They are resting now after being out so much today. I tried to get some individual pics today but I got 2 done before everyone woke up and did not want to cooperate. So I'll try again in morning. I'm waiting on one more person on the waiting list to call back I'm assuming they are taking green as they wanted a boy. I have a family coming Saturday to look I have 2 girls available red and purple. I'll update after our vet appt tomorrow. Have a great evening.(green and orange are the 2 I did pics of below, and by the way they love the new Groupon $18 elevated bed!!! Best $20 I have spent!!!)
4/25/2017 Rain rain go awaywe are running out of indoor games to play. I've tried just about everything I can think of to keep them entertained and stimulated. But I can tell they feel about as out of sorts as I do. Even if it's cold I usually get them out for a couple mins at a time but mud really dampens the outside experience. And the constant rain. They don't like getting wet any more that I like drying them. So hopefully tomorrow the sun shines. They are eating well, de wormed again Monday. They are all growing great. We brushed today. Most liked the brush. They are doing pretty well with potty training. A couple accidents now and then. I have one last family to pick then I will post who is available for sure. Right now it's green red purple. All are sweeties and unique. Here are some pics of our afternoon.
4/21/2017 Outsidethey had a lot of fun today outside. They are really starting to play with each other and try to concor one another. I'm not really seeing a dominate one yet. No one stands out as the true alpha. They are all pretty equal in power and size. I still have not weighed. I will by the time everyone comes tomorrow. We have just been so busy. Everyone got a quick wash off tonight. Lots of mud in the yard today.
4/20/2017 Thursday and the sun is shiningawwww. At last. After the cold spell yesterday and the wet morning everyone was getting bored. We are finally outside. Digging holes. But hey they are having fun. Lol. I got some sweet kisses from purple and aqua today. I can tell they are starting to mature. The last couple days everyone has been little biting monsters. Teething must be awful. I can't image. We give our kids meds. Imagine the pain a pup goes through. So I have compassion when my arms are bleeding and my butt is being bit and my toes crunched on. I gave them frozen toys yesterday but they had no interest. I still stand by my descriptions. Not much change. I wanted to talk about body type. If you look at some of my others pups you see some are lanky and some are chunky. I think this litter is going to be more chunky stocky than lanky. I'll weigh later today and let you all know my final adult weight predictions.
4/19/2017 Good morningeveryone is doing great. They love to be outside. When ever they hear the girls ring the potty bells they get up and run to the gate. I want to do a couple updates so I may be all over the place this morning. So bear with me. With the cold weather and mud I won't be taking them out unless it drys some. I tried last evening and it was a muddy mess. I ended up letting them in the big yard instead. I know I put my foot in my mouth about digging. I'm trying so hard to curb this behavior. ?!?! Last litter I tried cardboard in the area they did it. This litter the indoor outdoor carpet pc seem to be working better. So we will keep redirecting. Lol. I've seen some changes this week. Red is really maturing. If you would have had pick day at 5 weeks I would have said she was a barker. But boy did that change. Once she hit 6 weeks she has turned into miss mature. She is adventurous. She likes to sneak out the gate outside and play with the big girls. Or she sits and watches the other pups. I still stand by green and yellow being very playful. Outgoing. They like to get up on the elevated bed and play in the window. They both love to be outside. Aqua is a go with the flow. More reserved than some but he will do what ever you ask him too. Purple is a little more outgoing. She is a sweetie. Playful and fun. White is funny because he loves to play. But they dominate him and he still ends up on his back. If I'm wiping up a pee puddle he will attach my paper towel. He loves the way it moves and thinks it's fun. Dark blue is quite and watches everyone else. He will lay under the chairs outside and nap. He also likes the coffee can toy that rolls with treats in it. Orange is playful and likes to grab others tails and play tug. He loves this game. He is pretty smart and learned the doggie door quick. I will keep posting through out today and this week so you can read any changes between now and Saturday. Start thinking of what works good for go home day between may 1st and 12th. I will ask each of you what day you prefer. I will blog more later today.
4/16/2017 I probably freaked some of you out I'm sure your questioning my don't push him. I say this esp after having dolly the poodle. She is so skittish. Puppies have 2 fear periods they go through. And I will post this on my blog to so everyone else understands. If they are pushed and not reassured during these periods this is when they become fearful or skittish. The second period is 8/9 weeks. I think he is so nice and relaxed but I won't push him. He is not outgoing. He isn't shy either. But he doesn't go after stuff like the food like the others. He doesn't attack my feet. He more so just watches and decides if safe. If I push him he will decide it's not safe. If I reassure him he will get confidence. This is a critical time in them deciding what they like and don't like. Does this make sense? He needs to develop confidence. It will come.
The above is a comment I just sent someone. Puppies have 2 fear periods. The next one will come right before they leave me. So if you see me post things about about pushing them or not this is because I do not want to make them skittish. I want to build confidence. I'm I'm more aware of this period after getting dolly the poodle. She is very skittish. If I turn the vacuum on she runs and barks. If someone drops something she runs. I want and always want to send home some confident puppies. And this second phase can make a big difference in the confidence level. Some I can push a little harder. I make them go up and down steps on their own. Or we play a little rougher. Or I hold them back from food bowl so feet are out. On a pup that needs some confidence I'm not doing this. I'm stroking their back. Or helping them up the steps. I hope this makes sense to everyone. Sometimes I post thing and don't realize that there is no back story posted why or what I mean. You all know I'm referring to dark blue mostly. But let's take the opposite. Orange has more than enough confidence. So I'm redirecting his feet out of the food bowl or even holding them out. He wants to stand in the bowl. I make him go up the steps his self because I know he will keep trying. I hope this explanation makes sense as to why I do what I do. I want everyone to have confidence. Some you just have to stroke a little more. 4/16/2017 What you have all been waiting onsome personality traits. I'll start by saying any pup is trainable. It's just how hard you want to work to do that. It's much easier if it's a good fit. Less butting heads. Green and purple are going to be family dogs. Very loyal and playful. They want to be with me. Outgoing and exploring. They don't back down and are not skiddish. Red is turning out to be the observer. I thought at first it was purple. But you will see in every pic red is on the steps watching everyone else. She wants to see what is going on. Orange is my chewer. They are all still teething but he loves to chew on toys. He is playful and very interactive with the other pups. White is my lap dog that's more submissive. Not shy just always on his back. The others dominate him. Yellow is quite. She wants held if I ask. Her and aqua are very similar. Independent will go one and play by self but if I'm offering they will sit and get rubs. Dark blue is very quite. He is content being held or laying down. He is not skidish but I wouldn't push him until the time is right to socialize. I think if he was pushed too hard he could become scared. No one in this litter is clingy. I've had some. And no one in this litter is very active. I have had 1 of those. So far no one is hard headed. I've had those too. I feel this litter is pretty middle of the pack. The one thing different is eating. They do dominate each other at food time. I'm working on this behavior. I don't like it. Food should not be a push and shove event. Each litter has a quirk. Or something different. Last litter played in water bowl and dug holes. I've had no issue with that this litter. I've also had litters insist on excaping. They are not worried at all with getting out yet. I'll post more this week as they develop.
4/15/2017 Outsidewe have been outside for hours today. Each taking turns playing with the pups. Bella loves to play. Dolly is getting the hang of it. Poor curly is still a food source so they don't play with her, just bug her to eat. Another week she will be completely dried up and it will stop. Here are lots of pictures from today.
4/14/2017 A quick comment on potty trainingim no expert but I see so many posts on fb ....help my pup is 10 or 12 weeks old and is still not getting it. 9 times out of 10 the question is asked and answered, yes they got the pup at 6 weeks old. I can't even begin to image anyone taking home a pup today. They are 6 weeks old. They have no clue about were to potty yet. It's getting better and better each day but they are in a 6x8 contained space. Imagine in a whole house. Oh my. We have had many oops today. But better than yesterday and tomorrow will be even better. Those couple weeks make a big difference.
