12/22/2017 Vet2nd booster, lepto rabies done. Vet and whole staff commented how well behaved they were. They said all my pups are this way. Yes they are. I work hard at it.
12/20/2017 12 weeks oldi have not blogged in awhile. We have had a busy busy house this month. Nothing bad just a lot going on and stuff had to be delt with as it came up. We have a vet appt tomorrow for second set of shots. A few pups have went home and they are doing great. I want to talk about a couple important issues. The first is pet insurance. I send home papers for Trupanion. They cover emergencies. There is also embrace. They are a great company as well. I want you to know that pups are like kids. Lots of normal things can pop up over the course of their life. Diabetic issues. Allergies. Cancer. Broken leg. Swallow a sock. Teeth issues. Skin issues. I test for every genetic issue known. I only use healthy parents. But just like kids you can have straight teeth but your kid needs braces. You have no allergies but your kid has allergies. So I’m telling you if you don’t have a rainy day fund then get insurance. The last catastrophe we had costed $2400. And that was just 1 issues. I had a dog eat something they shouldn’t have. Another time I had a dog get allergies and the testing alone costed $1000. Now on to the next thing and I know I have blogged about this. Do not let your vet take advantage of you. I hear stories every week of vets charging for stuff and running tests and recommending things that are just not right. Get a second opinion. Just like you would your child. One vet insisted I pay $100 a month for special food for my dog because of allergies. Well we switched to raw and it was 1/2 that. Some vets don’t like doodles. They don’t like any breed other than labs retrievers and Shepard’s. No joke. I read an article that said what your vet really thinks about you and your dog. No not all are money hungry doodle haters. But if you get the vibe, leave. Switch. To many people won’t stand up when they think somethings not right. Ok rant over.
We are working on training. Crate at night is going well. Still some fussing the first 15 mins but it’s not bad. I’m trying to get them to sit before coming out. I don’t let them out when they are crazy. Going ok. Sit command is going great. Walking on lead is going ok. We need work. You will continue this when you leave. The most important command I want you to teach is recall. To come to you when called. This command is more important than any other command. If they are darting out the front door, running into traffic, chasing another dog, should I go on? You need to use the recall command. That’s why this is important. The training book can help you that I send home. |
