10/25/2017 Having funthey are having so much fun playing with each other. I got some good pics this morning. And most have teeth coming through. I added a blanket for them to sleep on. And they love it. Pups are good at not potty on area they sleep. So it forced them to potty in or near the pads. For the most part.
10/22/2017 Lots of nursingmomma is still nursing lots. Every couple hours. They are really walking well. I still have the rug pad down for traction. Couple more days and I’ll remove that. I did add a litter pan lined with pee pads today. They are using it. It helps keep the bedding area dry so they are not sleeping in wet spots. I change bedding 3 times a day but they pee a lot due to the lots of nursing. Lol. I love working with each pup and seeing what they like and don’t like. I think we talked about this the other day. But some like neck scratched others belly. Some the butt. It’s neat to find their spots and watch them react. Still using toothbrush to touch feet. Going well.
10/18/2017 3 weeks old.they will be 3 weeks old Thursday. I have weighed today and updated chart. I also dewormed. All did great. Everyone is snuggled in the whelping box right now. They don’t like the change in temperature. I will post some more videos later on fb. They like when I scratch their heads. It’s pretty adorable. All have something they like most. The ears, neck back ect. But this litter seems to really like the scruff of the neck scratched. Blue almost purrs like a kitten. It’s a gruff sound he makes.
10/15/2017 Milk, it does the body goodi posted a cute pic today. Green had a milk mustache. It was most adorable. They pups are growing so fast. Eyes are open. At this point they can start to make out objects and see movement. It was actually a quite day. They fussed very little today. I think they are learning mommas new schedule for them and adjusting. I know we have a lot of new readers so I want to address a couple things. I’m a firm believer in being with the litter all the time. I may run to the store. Or run out for carry out but I’m never gone longer than an hour. Someone is with the pups if I need to be gone longer. See the problem is not just the pups but mom. That’s another reason I’m still sleeping on the sofa beside the box. Mom needs to eat every couple hours. She can’t make it through the night without eating. So if I worked all day, who would feed mom in this 8-10 hours I was gone? Next issue is with eating this often she needs to potty often. Who would let her out during those 8-10 hours? I’m not preaching. I’m just telling you to ask your self is it fair to mom and babies to not have someone there to feed and let them out. Dogs can’t chose things. We choose for them. I would not want 6 screaming mouths all day while I laid there hungry waiting on someone to come home and feed me. All this leads me to why I do what I do. I try to give my moms the best life possible. All my dogs get to live a good life. I believe that’s what makes them be the best mommas they can be.
This week lots of things will happen. We will deworm Monday. And every week until they leave. This is a normal schedule. I’ve never had any test positive in my care for worms. But it’s a standard procedure to deworm them just in case. We will be clipping nails again. Did it once last week but they are sharp again. We will be introducing a potty area in the whelping box. You will see it when we post pictures so you know what it is. This will encourage them to potty in one area. We will be introducing lots of sounds this week too. So stay tuned for updates and pics it will be a big week. Oh and individual pics need edited then I’ll post them. Hopefully tomorrow. 10/14/2017 Puppy updateit looks like we may have 1 available puppy in this litter. If we do it will be a male. I need to confirm a couple more emails this weekend.
Puppies are growing. Very fat. With only 6 they are getting fed well. And it shows. The first week she didn’t leave the box. She nursed 24/7. Now this week she has been out and about. And when ever they wake up they scream for her. They were used to the milk bar never closing and they don’t need fed that much. But boy do they tell her when they are hungry. This is the most verbal litter we have had. I can’t get far from the box. Im use to the fussing if they are chilled, or one gets lost from the others, but this litter cries and I’m right there trying to see what’s wrong. And at the point I have figured out its they want nursed. Nothing wrong. She knows it’s time for them to soothe them self. A good mom teaches this. When you look for potential therapy pups you want a mom that makes them work for it. It makes for a better pup. So although I don’t like them to fuss for anything I know mom is teaching. Mom knows best. Eyes are open now and they can see right in front of them. They have wobble legs right now. Wobbling around the box. By the beginning of the week they will very mobile. I’ll post more pictures tomorrow and do individual pics again. 10/5/2017 Puppieswe have puppies. Born last Thursday morning. This is the smallest litter we have had to date. Six. But everyone is healthy and I feel good announcing that we can start to contact people on the waitlist. Remember you have the choice of current litter or remain on list for next litter if we don’t have a pup that suits your needs. This litter will be small. 20-25 range. And probably curly. All are an apricot. One boy and one girl are super small. We will know at 6 weeks the projected weights. One girl is larger then others. If you believe you are on waitlist and I have not emailed you yet shot me an email and ill confirm your spot. I believe this is going to be a very cute litter just like momma curly sue. Her pups are just adorable.
