Funny stories

with pups you get so caught up in the what you need to know what’s going on do this do that. I don’t share many of the funny things that happen. But this morning I have a funny story. Yesterday morning I got up and noticed when I went to let the girls out the patio door that there was puppy poo on the rug. Didn’t make sense as I’m really good at cleaning up after they are loose and I didn’t see it at 2am when I let the girls out. I know I’m sleep deprived but how could I miss that. So this morning I let the girls out it was 6am and still pretty dark. I stepped square in a pile of puppy poo. I took a step with other foot and stepped square in a second pile of puppy poo. So 6am I clean everything up. While I’m washing and scrubbing my feet I see pink out! She goes to the door. Now I get it! She is lettting herself out of puppy pen at night and going to the door to poo! Which is great! I can’t fuss her for that. But why and how she learned this is beyond me. And the fact that she goes back in is what’s even more baffling. I’m use to puppies getting loose at this stage. Because mom still needs access I use the window seat. But to go back in?!?! Now that’s unusual. Usually if they get out they lay on outside of pen and sleep. So we will be reconfiguring pen this week. Someone has to be the first to get out. But I just had to laugh when I figured out what she was doing. 2 litters ago purple had this elaborate escape act. She would get on top of the crate and down across stuff. I didn’t figure that one out till I watched her on video at night doing it. She was really good at finding a spot and getting out. It’s been at least 4 litters since I’ve had one scale the puppy pen. Grey could do it in seconds. I love watching their little mind at work. Solving problems and figuring things out. Doodles are truly Street smart. Our German Shepard was intelligent. But does not compare to the doodle. He could learn anything. But doodles figure things out like problem solvers. That’s why I love this breed.
